Strong inderdisiciplinary focus with an interest in bridging gaps between the natural and the social sciences and in the application of basic research results to aid in the management, conservation and production of aquatic resources. Aims are to achieve long-term harmony between resource users, nature conservation and society as a large. This can only be reached if scientists, managers and users acknowledge the pressing need to consider and integrate the intrinsic values of wildlife as renewable common pool resources/public goods that provide essential ecological services for living and future generations.
Motto of life:
"Intelligence of life means to take as many things as possible seriously, but to take none all-importantly"
(Arthur SCHNITZLER, Austrian writer, 1982-1931, translated from German).
